Letter from the President
I welcome you to the Riverside County Philharmonic’s 2008-2009 Season. The San Bernardino Sun recently called the Philharmonic “the best orchestra in Southern California,” adding to an already steady stream of critical accolades from the media. Music Director, Patrick Flynn, has devised yet another extraordinary season, filled with music that will lift you out of your daily routine and into a world of music beyond your imagination.
This year the Philharmonic will add two Sunday afternoon concerts to its Saturday evening concert programs. These are part of the new Family Series, produced in partnership with Performance Riverside. The concerts, one hour in length with commentary by Maestro Flynn, are designed and priced so the whole family (including the grandparents) can enjoy great music together in an informal environment. The orchestra will also expand its education programs, which include in-school workshops conducted by Philharmonic musicians, plus a mentoring program for high school students who are considering a career in music. These programs are in addition to our annual Young People’s Concerts at the Municipal Auditorium, conducted and narrated by Patrick Flynn.
